About Crowww

Crowww is a classification and retrieval service developed by Ricoh's Information & Communication Research Center. Crowww automatically gathers WWW pages from a user-specified range of internet/intranet locations and classifies the pages into pre-defined categories. You can then search for WWW pages within any given category, as well as display search results by category. Crowww makes it easier to find information linked to your internet/intranet homepage. Crowww's Features

Size of collection

76691 documents/images under Ricoh's Homepage are currently indexed. Pages for SHOGI and NetCow are excluded.

Search query

Type a word or multiple words into the search query box.

  	examples:
	printer facsimile copier
		search for pages which include either "printer", "facsimile",
		or "copier".
	printer +facsimile +copier
		search for pages which include "printer" and "facsimile"
		and "copier".
	printer -facsimile -copier
		search for pages which include "printer", but neither

		"facsimile" nor "copier".
  

You can combine "+" and "-". Please note that a complex query may result in a very slow response. Searches are performed in a case-insensitive manner.

Order of search results

The Display Order of the search results can be either "Ranking" or "By Date". "Ranking" indicates the relative match between the pages and the search query. "By Date" lists the pages by date, beginning with the most recent.

Language

The displayed pages can be limited to either English or Japanese, or both. The language of each page is mechanically assigned, so there may be some errors in assignment.

Listing pages

Pages in the list are ordered by date. Upto 100 pages are listed in a single page. You can specify the maximum number of pages to be listed when you make search.
