The conventional reasoning that "a roll of film is 25mm wide, therefore the
width of a
camera must be at least 30 millimeters" has just been proven false by
Ricoh's compact
cameras R1 and GR1. All the parts of the camera except where the film goes
have been
reduced to under 25mm. Nonetheless, this camera still takes pictures with
through-the-
lens viewfinder quality. What's the secret? |
