Ricoh, as one of the earth citizens and as an environmentally advanced business, is actively striving for various "environmental conservation activities". And not only for environmental impact reduction of business activities through recycling or energy saving activities, but also for social contribution activities, such as employees' environmental volunteer participation and forest conservation, Ricoh is continuing its unique approach.

For instance, we have "village hill conservation activities" promoted together with regional people.

"Village hill" is where people and nature are harmonized and live together with resources well recycled. Its recovery is one example of environmental volunteer activities. Ricoh's environmental volunteer leaders are in the center, enjoying together with regional people and families as they cultivate rice fields, repair copses and do other things to maintain a rich natural environment nearby. Also in order to support volunteer leaders, corporate meetings are held for exchange of information and learning. Ricoh believes that to raise each employee's awareness and to support its voluntary actions will lead to more efficient corporate environmental activities.

Forests in the world are rapidly being lost. Particularly in Asia, the forest area ratio has decreased to as low as 16%. Serious problems are caused, such as impact to the ecological system, drainage of water resources, and reduced CO2 absorption.

Ricoh develops 8 projects in Brunei, the Philippines and others under partnerships with environmental NPOs that have rich know-how of forest conservation. With deeper communication with the local people, it conducts forest conservation activities to protect biodiversity. Ricoh considers it a mission of its business to develop its operations in various countries of the world.
